Almost 6,000 Women—and I Still Walked Away

I really hate social media. There. I said it. 😂 And this isn't a new feeling. I've been over it for a long time.

For years, social media was a huge part of Sexy Beautiful Me. I had Instagram, my Facebook page, and at one point, a private VIP Facebook group with almost 6,000 women in it.

It took YEARS to build that group. It was filled with women who had joined because they were interested in boudoir, wanted to see my work, were thinking about booking a session, already booked a session, or just enjoyed being part of the community. And then I closed it. Eventually, I deleted Instagram too.

From a business perspective, I'm sure there are plenty of marketing experts who would tell me that was a terrible idea. But I was just DONE.

META Made It Really Hard to Run a Boudoir Business

If you're a boudoir photographer, social media can be incredibly frustrating. I can post an actual photograph of one of my clients and Facebook or Instagram and it will tell me that they've decided not to recommend my page or my content to other people. The photos aren't explicit. They're boudoir photographs.

But I'm constantly having to think about what Facebook might decide is inappropriate. Can I post this one? Is there too much skin? Should I crop it differently? Should I cover something? Will this photo get my page restricted?

Then There's the Constant Need to Feed the Beast

Post more. Make Reels. Make Stories. More of this or that. It never ends. And after a while, I started asking myself why I was spending so much of my time creating things for social media instead of spending that time doing things I actually enjoy.

I don't want to live my life thinking about content. I don't want every interesting thing I do to immediately become something I should post. Sometimes I just want to do something and enjoy it. What a concept. 😂

So What Does This Mean for Sexy Beautiful Me?

I'm not disappearing completely. I still have my Facebook business page and I'll continue posting there when I have something I want to share. I'm just not interested in building my business around social media anymore. More importantly, I don't want Facebook deciding whether I'm allowed to communicate with women who have specifically told me they want to hear from me.

So I'm going back to something wonderfully boring. Email. 😂

I Want to Be Able to Reach You Directly

I'm building an email list for women who are genuinely interested in Sexy Beautiful Me. Not because I want to bombard you with marketing emails. Trust me. I hate those too. I want a way to reach you when I actually have something worth telling you. Sometimes I have an idea for a shoot and want to know what you think. Sometimes I want to ask a question.

Maybe I'm considering a new setup or theme and want some opinions. Maybe I decide to offer a few Halloween sessions. Maybe I have a last minute opening. Maybe I decide to do something special and offer it to my email list first. Or maybe I just have something new happening with Sexy Beautiful Me that I think you'll want to know about.

I want to be able to send you an email and know that it actually made it to you. Whether you open it is completely up to you. 😂

So If You Want to Stay in the Loop...

Join my email list. That's it. If you like my photography, you're thinking about doing a boudoir session someday, you've photographed with me before, or you just want to see what I'm up to, I'd love to have you there.

I'm not going to email you every day. I'm not even going to email you every week unless I actually have something worth saying. And if someday you're no longer interested, you can unsubscribe. I promise I won't take it personally. 🖤
